Every incarnation of Star Trek features them - probably every Star Trek fan is aware of them: Phasers, Tricorders, PADDs. These often used devices (called props) help to create and maintain the credibility of the show, act as support for the characters and the respective actors and are sometimes even part of the story itself.
This site is dedicated to collecting and - more importantly - to building these props, which appear in ST TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT and the movies.

Sandpaper and files are irreplaceable in the hobby of prop building. Sometimes however, theres the need for more power. With a multipurpose tool like the one pictured below you can grind, drill, mill, saw, polish parts and more according to the attachment you are using. Very useful are devices with variable speeds and several different attachments for different tasks.
